How we support each stage

Each of our rooms is designed to support children at their own stage of development, with environments, routines, and learning opportunities tailored to their age and needs. As children grow, they move through our colour‑coded rooms at a pace that suits them, with staff working closely with families to ensure every transition feels smooth and well‑supported.

At Maple Tree Nursery, we understand the importance of ensuring your child is in a happy, safe, secure, clean, fun and friendly environment. That is why we have created mutliple colour coded rooms to cater for your childs needs. Below you will find detailed information on each room.

Orange Room (Babies)

Type: Baby Room
Ratio: 1 adult : 3 children
Capacity: 9 children per day

The Orange Room is designed for our youngest children, offering a calm, nurturing space that supports early routines and first stages of development. The room includes its own milk kitchen for preparing, washing, and sterilising bottles, as well as equipment to support the weaning process. A dedicated nappy‑changing area with personalised storage ensures each child’s care items are kept organised and accessible.

All staff are trained in Paediatric First Aid and can administer prescribed medication with the appropriate documentation. Nappy changes follow individual needs, sleep routines are flexible, and water is available throughout the day.

Yellow Room (Toddlers)

Type: Toddler Room
Ratio: 1 adult : 3 children
Capacity: 9 children per day

The Yellow Room supports toddlers as they grow in confidence, independence, and early communication. Each child has a key person who gets to know their interests, routines, and next steps, helping us plan meaningful learning experiences and prepare them for their transition into the Green Room.

Children wear their own clothes in this room, and we encourage families to provide spare items as children explore and become more independent. The Yellow Room team is always available to discuss your child’s learning and development.

Type: Two‑Year‑Old Room
Ratio: 1 adult : 4 children
Capacity: 12 children per day

The Green Room supports children as they develop their independence, communication, and early social skills. With a strong key‑person approach, staff observe children’s learning and plan activities that help them meet key milestones. This room provides a balance of play, routine, and early learning experiences that prepare children for the next stage in the Red Room.

The Red Room helps children build the skills and confidence they need before moving into Preschool. Each child has a key person who supports their learning, communication, and growing independence. Children may wear their own clothes, but once they turn three, we introduce a simple uniform (white t‑shirt and green jumper) to help prepare them for the routines of Preschool.
