Our duty of care to safeguard all children within our nursery.

At Maple Tree, the safety and wellbeing of every child is at the heart of what we do. Our rooms, gardens, and daily routines are all shaped to create a secure, welcoming environment where children feel settled and families feel assured.

To support this, we follow clear safeguarding policies, consistent procedures, and high expectations across our nursery. Our team receives ongoing training, regular guidance, and close support to ensure that excellent practice is maintained every day.

Safeguarding and Welfare

Maple Tree Nursery & Pre-School believe that children have the right to be completely secure from both the fear and reality of abuse, and we are committed to protecting all the children in our care from any harm. The security and protection of your child is of the utmost importance to us.

On arrival, your child will be greeted by our friendly and caring staff, each room will have allocated registers that staff will sign and record the time your child has arrived and departed nursery.

What is Safeguarding?

This means that if a child makes a disclosure of any sort or we feel this child is at risk of harm, we must act upon this.

This can lead to us making a referral to social services if needed, if a referral is to be made then we will always inform you of the incident that has happened and our decision to send the referral across. You may receive a call from Social Services regarding the matter.

All our members of staff are Pediatric First Aid trained and are able to deal with minor injuries should they occur. We will also administer prescribed medication to your child providing there is a consent form that has been completed by the parent and signed.

Child Protection Policy

Maple Tree Nursery & Pre-School believe that children have the right to be completely secure from both the fear and reality of abuse, and we are committed to protecting all the children in our care from harm. All staff employed by Maple Tree Nursery and Pre-School are DBS (Disclosure Barring Service) Checked and made aware of safeguarding policies during induction and are booked onto child Protection Level 1 training.

We endeavour to ensure child protection and safeguarding regulations are maintained at all times, any new information we receive is fed through to every staff member via staff meetings, memos or training sessions.

Arrival, Collection and Outdoor Safety

All children will enter the nursery via our Reception doors, we encourage Parents/Carers to support their child to carry their own bag, and coat if they are not wearing it (age appropriate of course). Our staff will greet them at the door and invite them into the nursery to start their day, we encourage Parents/Carers to depart after giving your child a cuddle or kiss, in order to maintain a smooth departure.

To ensure the safety and security of all Children, Parents, Carers, Staff and Visitors on site, we have an electronic, facial recognition door entry system. Only staff will have authorisation to use this so we ask Parents/Carers to please ring the bell and a staff member will be with you as soon as possible.

On collection, we will ask you to wait in Reception and your child/children will be brought down to you by a member of staff from their room and you will receive feedback about their time at nursery.

Under no circumstances will any child be allowed to leave Maple Tree Nursery & Pre-school with any unauthorised person to collect, unless previously arranged by the parent/carer. If it is pre-arranged, then a password system is in place to ensure a safe collection at the end of the nursery day. A photograph of the person collecting your child may be requested in certain circumstances.

Our outside environment plays a vital part of your child’s experience and development at our nursery. We are very privileged to have 1.25 acres of natural environment to play and explore in a safe and secured area. Only Senior staff have access to the keys to the external gates, ensuring our garden remains safe and secure at all times.
