About Us

Who we are

Our nursery is registered for 82 children per day. We are registered on the Early Years Register and the compulsory and voluntary parts of the childcare register.

About Us

Maple Tree Nursery & Pre-School aims to serve quality child care to suit the needs and requirements of Walsall residents, commuters, the surrounding areas and the local community.

We are accessible to all children from 0-8 years and have created five rooms for children to learn, play and explore. Along with an extensive enclosed natural outdoor environment for all children to enjoy, in all kinds of weather.

We are a ground level building suitable for children and adults, with or without disabilities. Our rooms are grouped into age levels e.g. babies, toddlers, 2-3yr olds and pre-school children. Your child will be placed into a room according to where their age and stage of development is.

In partnership with you, our staff will carefully observe, assess, monitor and plan for your child’s individual needs. This allows us to plan for your child’s individual needs helping them to progress through the nursery and enjoy every aspect of learning during their time with us.

We will collate evidence about your child, detailing all the experiences and learning opportunities they have achieved. Formal and informal observations, photographs and samples of children’s work produced, will be kept and issued to the child as a keepsake when a child leaves our nursery, in paper or electronic form.

Soil Association - Food for Life

Maple Tree Nursery will be taking part in the Food for Life Early Years Award. This is a great way to demonstrate that our nursery is giving every child in our care the best possible start to their food journey. The award will help us to ensure that we are providing tasty, nutritous meals in our nursery, that creates great social skills and food knowledge to every child.

This will encourage good food habits for life through practical cooking and growing activities and food-based learning for staff, children and parents/carers. The award has been developed and commisioned by Walsall Local Authority Early Years Dept.

Being awarded will help us to

  • Demonstrate we are giving children the best possible start.
  • Show parents that healthy food and healthy behaviours are important to every child.
  • Be a nursery of good food practice; through meeting wider guidelines around early years nutrition.
  • Provide evidence for Ofsted that we are meeting the Common Inspection Framework requirement to support children to keep themselves healthy and more.

Meals at Maple Tree Nursery

At Maple Tree Nursery & Pre-School all of our meals are prepared by our nursery chef, using fresh and shop bought ingredients, locally sourced from our nearest supermarket. Your child will be provided with a balanced diet including the government’s recommended 5 portions of fruit and vegetables EVERY day.

We believe that offering children healthy choices, can lead to a healthier lifestyle and therefore our team encourage healthy eating. Our menus are carefully planned by our chef and liaised with the senior management to ensure that the children are receiving a balanced and nutritious diet.

All menus are monitored and reviewed regularly to ensure a high quality of nutritious meals are provided. We operate our menus on a 3-week cycle, starting with week 1 and ending with week 3, at the end of the cycle we start again.

Our menu offers the children breakfast, a well-balanced hot mid-day meal (including a dessert) and a light tea-time meal. Snacks, include fresh fruit, toast and vegetables specially prepared by our chef, along with offering our children water and milk.

Our meals are carefully planned and cater for the needs of the individual child. We cater for special dietary requirements i.e. cultural, religious or medical and follow the ethos that mealtimes are happy and social times for the children. With our weaning babies, we aim to provide balanced meals for our small friends, however individual needs will be catered for.
